Dark shadows fill my eyes,
Flashes of dancing light,
On the waves,
Standing there alone in the dark,
Standing there beneath the clouds,
Standing and knowing only one thing,
Knowing you,
* * *
At my legs the waters push,
Threatening death and worse,
But in each crash only I hear,
A promise of an unknown love,
Back to the ocean the water flows,
To prepare another assault on me,
With the water my body goes,
Take my soul out to sea,
* * *
Thundering the waves surround,
Surround my standing form,
Formless, lifeless, waiting there,
Formless, knowing you,
* * *
And when I glance, at the waves,
They, dark, remind,
Of your hair, also flowing,
Taking my soul to sea,
* * *
And the dancing light on the waves,
How like your eyes,
How alike they seem,
Points of brightness,
In a darkened world,
Loving, pure, pristine,
* * *
The water hitting feels the touch,
As if caressed by you alone,
Strength and gentleness the same,
The thought of coming home,
* * *
The waves push and pull,
Carrying my thoughts to depths,
Embracing me in cool love,
A protecting from the world,
As I find in your arms,
* * *
The clouds move in the wind,
Propelled by force alone,
Alone as I, in the waves,
And my thoughts of home,
* * *
And in this dark and spilled night,
I find pleasure not remorse,
Each crashing wave on me,
Makes me love you more.
