Jeff
As that car came toward you, What did you think? Did your life flash before your eyes? Was your last breath a mumbled prayer... Or was it to your mom's name you cried? Because I know we will miss you, I promise, I know, because my life will never be the same, Learning of the news was surreal, But the downpour came from the misting rain. I only regret, from this, one thing, That, to you, I did not apologize, For how I had ever treated you, Remember, I thought, no teenager would die. I was not worried, that I would not get a chance, To say my peaceful sorrow some other day, If I had known yesterday would be you last, I would have spent all day to pray. Asking God just to spare your life, And take, perhaps mine instead, Or, better yet, none at all, And sleep safely in our beds. And I promise Jeff, I will miss, Your smiling, caring, teasing face, You hold a place in my heart, That cannot be replaced. From your heavenly perch look down, And see us toil upon this earth, Flap for my your angel's wings, And understand your worth. And please forgive me brother, for I've sinned, Against you in memory past, Please forgive me for what, to you I did, I didn't know life passed so fast. |
