Have you ever seen the world,
The one on which you stand,
Float away like a chunk of rock,
Thrown aloft by man?
Hurtling through the atmosphere,
To touch the vaulted sky,
The earth just shrinks away,
And the wind becomes a sigh.
Then reaching to the arc,
Your world spins awry,
Somewhere in this stillness,
There are others in the sky.
Each clinging to an earthlet.
Each holding on strong,
Trying to keep their hold,
On what they've known so long.
And they stay aloft for eternity,
They will never come back down,
If only they would just let go,
And make not a sound.
Let the world change around them,
Let things come and go,
This is one way to be happy,
Ask me, I would know.
For once I did let go,
And floated slowly away,
But each day I just wish,
That I decided to stay.
For each fling now I have,
Each time I'm thrown away,
The height I reach is never,
As high as I was that day.
