Home : The Collection : A Promise

Neither ocean's roar nor sky's lore,
Can compare with the love you have,
And the might of flight, and bright moonlight,
Can not express the beauty you have
And I wish to give to you,
A promise heard long and true,
Upon neither ocean no sky,
Nor anything living, to die,
Not the act of flight, or a moon's glow,
For I do love you so,
This promise I will keep,
Though heaven's dark, and angels sleep,
My love will not fade away,
But even, as friends, will stay,
If some fateful night our Lord,
Unto us some truth unpoured,
And spoke so to break the bond,
Though I love you so, I speak wise,
So shallow the lake, deep the pond,
Not any eartly power could save the ties,
But close to you I'll remain,
A friend, so near, to touch, again,
But may that night never come,
And as a day never manifest,
Though only from the Lord it can come,
With you I feel so heaven blessed,
Touching the light-threads of your hair,
To be the first hand wandered there,
And live forever within your care,
And you in mine, my maiden fair,
Dream with me tonight, I impore,
And open up your mind's sweet door,
Dream of togetherness, of love free,
A time to, ourselves, truth to be,
Give into all temptations,
For you hold not sin to me,
And pray for the delay of our starvations,
So, together again, we can be,
As we sail through the cloud,
A kiss to you I blow so light,
But even there, felt so loud,
In the quiet of the night,
Wake up the morning, and remember my love,
The feeling to fly like the dove,
And a feeling of love sweet as wine,
A thing I have not tasted, but heard devine,
No drugs need to pass our lips,
But out words of our love shall slip,
For our love is not spoiled by a filth,
But a pile of golden wealth,
I give myself docile to you,
And hope that in your trust,
With love you will coo,
From the very depths without lust,
And allow me to rest, a silent sleep,
With you in my arms when there,
We shall behave, and like the sheep,
We will have nothing to fear,
And the love you have, I have promised,
And my promise I keep true,
Not only a promise to you my love,
A promise to God Almighty, too.
