A Night
On an abandoned hilltop I sit, Gazing at the stars alight, Wondering what a god has writ, What wonders in this night? Beneath me is a blanket warm, But I feel no cold in summer's grasp, Be it night, still no harm, For ever loving heat will last. Away in the distance a stream, Quietly jingling in the dark, A stream where I acted many dreams, In the nightime slumbers stark. The moon casts upon the earth, A light of romantic depth, Proving to me life's own worth, From the sands of heart I sift. In this night, crickets call, And fireflies flitter by, A woven story told by all, Two lover's immortal tie. In my hand I hold to me, A thing without worth itself, For I would trade my sight to see, To hold onto this wealth. Her name of great importance, How beautiful is her face, How lovely she, for me, dances, In her heart is my place. To me she leans against, Her protector for the would outside, In my nostrils I breath her scents, As in my arm she'll hide. I am for her a knight astride, A charger black as night around, I have been tested, I have been tried, In me, it's her love she's found. The night, in no uncertain way, Ticks away the hourglass, Soon night will turn into day, But forever our love will last. A sunset rises in the east, As romantic as the night so still, Birds are singing, crickets ceased, As we wait upon our hill. This day blooms full, Like a rose in the sun, Beside me is my precious jewel, And so my day begun. |
