Bucktoothed celebrities who sing off-key. And that's just the tagline...
I am very glad that the end of the holiday season means no more of the Victoria’s Secret TV spots featuring Heidi Klum singing…off key. She hosts her own successful show. She has admirers around the world. Her husband sings — quite well, as a matter of fact. So with all the talent she obviously has, and the self-knowledge that any successful entertainer must have, why did she agree to do her own singing if she can’t carry a simple tune? Maybe it was intentional, to make her more “cute” / less threatening to men (who, after all, is VC’s holiday target audience.) If the off-key singing was intentional, I’m impressed because it’s a right bear to purposely sing just slightly off key…but I’m still glad the commercial’s over.
However, we seem to have traded that commercial for some car dealership advertising its end-of-year sales…with car salespeople singing “So Long, Farewell” from The Sound of Music. I think I’d rather deal with off-key Heidi.
And did you know that four consecutive episodes of a television show constitutes a marathon? Yep. Apparently, on Spike TV, three consecutive episodes of CSI every weekday is normal…but add that fourth episode and you’ve got yourself a marathon.
And along with that factoid is a list of fifty things we learned this year (including the existence of a bucktoothed rock-climbing catfish with suckers), but the learning thereof was swamped in the nonsense over TomKat, the K-Fed/Britney drama, and other celebrity fluff.
Speaking of celebrity fluff, what year-roundup list would be complete without a retrospective of entertainment figures who have gone on to play a much larger room?
And now my neighbors are setting off their rockets, and the cats are hiding under the bed, and I’m going to go to sleep.
Tomorrow, I have CDs to rip!! Happy New Year, everybody!!
