This recipe is ideal for those who do not have a sweet tooth — they have 28 or 30 sweet teeth. This is a very rich recipe, so be warned. Can also be a bit messy.
Ingredients needed:
1 package German Chocolate Cake mix
Water, milk, oil, eggs, and other ingredients as called for in the German Chocolate Cake mix
14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
17 ounces of caramel, fudge, or butterscotch topping (as for ice cream or for dipping apples)
8 ounces frozen whipped cream, thawed
8 ounces toffee chips or bits (when in doubt, get a toffee candy bar and crush it)
wooden spoon (for making the holes in the top of the cake)
- Preheat oven to 350° fahrenheit.
- Bake cake as directed on package for 13X9-inch baking pan.
- When done, let cake cool for 15 minutes.
- Poke a hole every 1/2 inch in the warm cake using the wooden spoon
- Drizzle the condensed milk evenly over the top of the cake
- Let stand until the condensed milk has been absorbed into the cake
- Drizzle top of cake with the caramel (or fudge, or butterscotch) topping.
- Cover the cake and refrigerate about 2 hours, or until thoroughly chilled (not frozen)
- Spread whipped cream over the cake
- Sprinkle with toffee chips
Serve, or cover and refrigerate.
