Thank goodness for redundancy.
I updated my site software last night, which fixed one set of bugs. It was somewhat overdue. However, in the process, I managed to overwrite the array file that contained all my random quotes. I’d collected them over fifteen years from books, TV, movies, and .sigs (email and forum signatures, for those who took to the Internet after 1995.)
Then today, I found a copy of the quote archive on my old computer. (And, of course, there’s now a new version of the site software…so I have to update again. Whee.)
But - yay - I didn’t lose that quote file. And it’s Friday! I have a weekend ahead!
In other news, I’ve been mentally playing around with other ways to configure the Iterations site. I want to make it a little more portal-oid, and it needs to both showcase peoples’ entries better and be easier to understand. (And, while I’m at it, the code could use some optimizing. I don’t think I’m using the most efficient query structure, and the more efficient they are, the less strain they put on the server…and the faster the pages load…and some other technical garbage.)
