Islamic Star Patterns
When I was about seven, a relative gave me Altair Designs as a Christmas gift. I bought the other three...and the next time I tried to find the books (about twelve years later), they were gone from stores. I couldn't even get them from the publisher. There were others, sure; but they weren't the same. The designs didn't contain the same level of complexity and beauty. I've recently purchased used copies off of Amazon, and am going to scan the designs in and save them as Illustrator files so that I never lose them again. The link above provides some information about the Islamic star patterns, and also provides a software program to download and generate your own.
