A vicious one, too...
It’s COLD. As in, single digits at night. I know that everyone from the middle of the continent is scoffing; but truly, it does not get this cold where I am. We’re looking at recordbreaking low temperatures for the next three days. And especially nights. I have two large bath sheets hanging over my front door, which is improperly hung and lets out heat (and lets in cold), and have another one rolled up and laying at the bottom of the door. Fog added her weight to it - partially because it was Humanstuff down at wallering level, and as a cat she must anoint it with cat fur; partially in revenge because it’s too far for me to reach down and pet her (and I wouldn’t share my spicy nacho chips with her, and she’s sulking.)
In other news, I continue to have things to do at the gig, which is good. Firstus, it puts me at ease regarding their continued need for my presence until summer (and thus, decent regular paychecks for Yours Truly.) Secondus, the days pass s-o-o-o s l o w l y when you’ve got nothing to do but sit there, waiting for something to do. The weekly meetings keep getting longer, the deadline looms closer, and we have not yet started doing much in the way of preparing for this mongo-huge redesign. In fact, says Big Boss, we’ve got so much to do and so little time in which to do it that we’re going to have to bring in more people.
Dude. 1) where will they sit, because there’s no way I’m doubling up; and 2) one of the other contractors who’s been here over a year is coming to the end of his contract next month. Don’t tell me they didn’t try to extend that. They’ll need any expertise they can get. Fortunately, I seem to have been relegated to maintenance-production, which is fine by me: they can all run about like chickens with their heads cut off while I calmly go about propping up their existing site.
