Hey all,

My friend JC, who’s riding nearly 600 miles to raise money for the prevention and treatment of AIDS recently received two donations from people outside of California, people whom he doesn’t know, and he was wondering if I knew the names. Since I know most of you by your online handles, I didn’t recognize the names…but if any of you have the initials H.B. or L.M. and donated to JC in the last three or four days, drop me a line! It’s cool seeing how much we can change things just by taking a small action…like posting news of a worthy cause to one’s blog. (Or being nice to the harried driver in morning traffic. Or buying your downstairs neighbor, who was heard hacking and coughing, a venti Starbuck’s coffee.) There’s a way to leave encouraging messages for the riders, too, whether you donate or not. (All messages are, essentially, “in moderation” - the riders have to choose to display them on their homepage - but you can AIDS LifeCycledrop him a line, wish him well, or demand pictures for after he shaves his head when he reaches this year’s donations goal :D )

I only just found out — by Googling, no less — that JC’s a team leader this year. That means he’ll help out newer riders, lead groups in the actual ride, help people with their gear, be the “pace car” for one little group. Three years and he becomes a team leader. Cool, or what?!?? Don’t forget, if you’re in the LA area, this Wednesday is Legendary Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s in West Hollywood (map). Prizes include props, scripts, some autographed pieces; all monies go to the AIDS Lifecycle fund (through Juan Carlos). If you’d like to go, leave your name in the comments and I’ll add you to the evite so you can get all the details. It promises to be a great time. I kind of wish I was able to swing some business trip…but, ah, nope. Any of my SoCal buddies will just have to take photos for me. :D

Off to catch up with work really quickly. (Yep…still gotta do that on occasion.)
