Chewed upon, knocked about, and covered in drool. (It's not nearly as much fun as it sounds.)
My back is spasming…probably because of my anger at the rampant idiocy at Le Job. Yesterday was spent laying down, trying to get the muscles in my back to relax. It partially worked: this morning I’m back at Le Job, and all the healing I did yesterday has pretty much been swept away. (And, interestingly enough, no work piled up while I was gone. Because they still don’t know what to do with me. I’m like the telephone: I must be important, they might need me, so I’m there. But mostly, I just sit and gather dust
surf the web.)
This past weekend, I went and bought a window-mounted air conditioner. I went early, to beat the rush of customers who would be waiting in line when temperatures soared to the 100s and stampeded the stores. I went so early, though, that this year’s models weren’t even available. I found last year’s version of the model I wanted for $40 less than the new one will cost. So yay for planning ahead. Then this week, not only was my back acting up, the high temperatures were in the low 60s and we had rain.
But - yay - I got the site redesigned. (Yes, I know. You’re thrilled.) There are still some things I want to tweak; and if you’re using MSIE you won’t be seeing this properly because MSIE still barfs and dies when trying to parse the CSS opacity property (hint: the tree should be partially visible as the entry boxes scroll up over it). But, then again, it’s MSIE. I haven’t designed for that browser’s foibles since…oh…1998. It apparently still doesn’t know what to do with PNG backgrounds, either: the color’s off. (Some people have bad days and kick the garbage pail, yell at their spouses, or drink a lot. I snark at dumb technology. It’s an outlet.)
So for the three of you wondering why I’ve been so quiet…now you know.
Could someone pass me an icepack?
Additional gripe: no Jericho tonight. It’s being pre-empted for a special episode of Survivor. Hasn’t that show been put to sleep yet? (And possibly this spells the beginning of the end, since networks pre-empt when they’ve either got gobs to gain, or nothing to lose. Somehow I doubt that Survivor is so riveting that this pre-emption falls into the first category.)
