A weekly meme exploring your reactions to colors.
Rules, Guidelines, and Linkback Code
So who can participate in this?
Anyone and everyone. If you have a public web site of some kind (one that anyone can view without registering), you can participate.
I've got a MySpace page and a blog there. Can I participate from that?
Most Facebook walls and MySpace blogs (and similar things) are only visible when people are logged into those sites...and not everyone is registered on those sites. So no, you may not participate unless anyone can view it even if they're not signed up for the service at all. InsaneJournal is a good free journal site, as is Blogger, Blogspot, Vox, Journalscape, and several dozen other free "journaling" sites.
What do I post?
You can post something on your photoblog. You can post a picture of you in your favorite piece of clothing that's that color. Dye your hair! Paint your nails! Paint your room if you've got the time and the urge!! There are only two limits: your imagination; and community decency. Please nothing that shouldn't be seen by minor children in western Europe. So no pictures of you modeling your rainbow-hued Prince Albert, or that tattoo on your backside. When in doubt, put a warning on your link - especially if your page could at all be considered "not safe for work". This will make folks aware that they're headed to a page whose contents may cause a problem with someone (like their boss, or their parents, or their shockingly naive friend) and to take whatever precautions they personally feel necessary.
I still don't get it...
No worries. This is kind of an esoteric meme. It's not as straightforward as "list five things that happened to you this week" or "tell us how you spent your holiday" or even "what's the first thing that comes into your mind when I say 'olive green'?"...though that last one is kind of close. Here's a template you can use. Just copy the code in this text field, copy it into your blog, change {colorname} to that week's color, and then add your entry - a poem, a recipe, a picture, whatever you associate with this color.
If you know HTML, you can change that URL to link directly to each week's specific entry - or you can just have people go to the main page for this meme. Your choice. If you don't know HTML that well, just copy everything in that box and only change the stuff in between the curly braces {}
