Oh, wait. No aisles. Just 'cleanup'. (Bah...)
In honor of the upcoming holiday, and in honor of my finally having something resembling money, I bought two thermal cat beds and two sets of dishes. The thermal cat beds will be appreciated by Ursa
, who currently loves laying near the heater (especially in the evenings) and is always cold; and by Fog, who does not sleep on my bed because Monkey swats her whenever she tries. The dishes will be appreciated by me, who has been using the same set of ultra-cheap chipped stoneware plates for the last 15 years. This time, 1) it’s Corelle, which has a history of holding up rather well; and 2) I’m not living with the dish-chipper any longer. (And the mugs are larger. The ones that came with my current set? Disgracefully tiny. Larger than demitasse cups, but not by much.)
Today is Clearance Day. I’d like to say that this happens once every three months, or that I take care of all these tasks in small bits every day; but generally, The Big Clearance happens every four to six months. It actually started yesterday, when I swept the patio, took the two bags of leaves to the garbage, and took down the string of lights that hung off the roof. (The ones hanging inside the patio fence are staying put. They’re not in anyone’s way, and they’re hardly visible from the walkway; so there they stay.)
I am going to go through all my mail and papers, shred the ones I don’t need any more, and sort the others into ‘archive’ or ‘do something about this’ piles.
I am going to scrub the bathroom, mop the floors, and wash the shower-curtain liner in bleach.
I am going to clean the kitchen thoroughly: not just the countertops, but the shelves, the floor, the stove and oven.
I am going to vacuum the whole apartment.
I am going to do laundry, because that happy event coincides with Clearance Day.
I am going to wash and vacuum my car.
I think I am going to take a nap first, though…just listing everything out has made me tired.
