I want it all (done for me). And I want it now!
Well, I finished with my first day of work, and am in the midst of my second.
From home.
Where I’m logged into a laptop and connected to a VPN.
Today I went to the Geek Toy Store (Fry’s Electronics) and bought a router and a KVM switch. I want to be able to have both computers turned on, both be connected to the internet, and both use the same monitor/keyboard/mouse. I’ll just toggle back and forth at need, and keep the desktop clear. Problem is…a new router means setup. And I took a look, saw that I needed more room on the power strip, went back to GTS, and bought…a surge protector. (I got caught up in the shiny, and when I saw the eight plugs - some with plenty of room for larger AC plugs without sacrificing another outlet - I said, yay! This will work. No, no it won’t. I want a power strip, not just a surge protector. Dangit.)
I’ve very nearly reached the ‘petulant nelly’ stage. I just want stuff to work. I want everything to be set up properly without having to tweak and troubleshoot and fuss and spew.
I need a bit of cheese to go with the whine.
(In other news, the weather’s absolutely gorgeous. Once everything’s set up properly, I think I’m going to like this working from home…)
