Previously, on Titledeleted-TV...first, there were the dinosaurs.
I’ve been online since 1990. I’ve been writing HTML seriously since 1993. The kernel of this site started in 1995, when I wrote up a fictional account of the Laughing Muse. It’s been redesigned, moved, ported over to three different scripts, cleansed of content-kruft, and (once) nearly lost when the database tried to take up yoga.
I’m a standards fetishist and a usability pervert. I handcode my HTML, and believe that the web is a bit more about letting users choose the way they’ll receive content rather than about publishers being able to present content in as many formats as possible. I’m a gamer who does not play online roleplaying games. I build worlds and create languages. I pontificate, I expostulate, I rave about my cats. And I’m rather fond of blue icicle lights.
I have been told that I’m a very good tutor and teacher; yet I have no tolerance for willful idiocies. And this month I’m settling into a new job. You’ll hear about it a few times; but in the interests of not driving you away in droves (or developing an ulcer) I will keep the work-related mentions to a minimum. (I’m counting on folks to gently remind me if / when I get blown too far off track.) My politics are best described as “ragingly moderate”. I’m prejudiced against bigots and I can’t stand intolerance. I love that last sentence both for its truth and its inherent contradictions. Embrace the confusion!!!
This is my first year participating in Holidailies, though I have participated semi-religiously in other memes, including one go at NaNoWriMo. We’ll see if I can sustain a high level of clever for an entire month, or whether I will lapse into a slough of smartaleckitude.
Questions? And no copying each others’ notes. You know the person sitting next to you has unreadable handwriting anyway…
