Clearance Level: RedWe’re all just floating

in boats, on what was formerly our lawns

The rains have slowed, the floodwaters are lowering a tiny tiny bit, and the interstate is being opened later this afternoon. So we’re no longer an island. It’s also not raining Right Now, so perhaps things will calm down just a tad and groceries will enter the city again. This has happened the past three years. If this keeps up, I think western Washington should just go ahead and build canals. Sure they’ll dry up in summer; but in winter people won’t be flooded out of their homes. And some enterprising developer can build a pseudo-Venetian condo complex somewhere along the route and bring in many tourist dollars, even in winter. (Heck, we’re usually warmer than Chicago - they’ll come out in January and February. Right? If someone takes this idea to its logical conclusion, I get profits. Remember, you saw it here, folks.)

Yesterday I actually made some progress: I got some more documentation written, some more of the older documentation ported over, and worked on some partnership ideas with a friend of mine who is thinking of going into business doing blog software installation, customization, and upgrades. It’s not a piece of software that I personally use, so I may make a deal with him to give my clients a discount on his services, and in return he can give his clients a discount on my services. That way we both send each other business. (I like that idea, especially since it lets me take baby steps to get out of my marketing shell. I’ll need to do that eventually…but small incremental adjustments are less traumatic than going the used-car-salesman route.)

The manager of Coffee Shop of Horrors actually came and commented on my blog yesterday, after I wrote my entry about placing my order. How cool is that stuff?!?? (I can hardly wait for the package to arrive! Yay, caffeine!!)

And sadly, I can feel the beginnings of something sinusoid starting to back up. Not a throbbing sinus pain yet, just some glueyness and minor aches. Hopefully lots of liquids and the warmer weather we’re supposed to have this weekend will put paid to whatever-it-is my system’s trying to cook up for me.
