First it's snow. Then it's high winds. Now it's flooding.
Jan 07, 2009
There’s flooding. The interstate south of here is shut down due to flooding, and communities are being evacuated. This happened last year, too. Shipping trucks couldn’t get through with freight, supplies were slower for a while. I think I’ll go out tomorrow and stock up again, like I did before the big snow storms hit. I won’t necessarily be housebound…but I want to make sure I have enough of the basics on hand.
Good grief, I sound like I’m preparing for armageddon or something. I need to get a grip.
Then again…
It’s been raining most of the day, it’s windy, and in the past five minutes the lights have flickered three times. I think I’ll go downstairs, prep myself a pump pot full of hot water, and bring it back up to ride out whatever may be laying in wait.
Stupid weather patterns…

Getting started with the new routine isn't quite going as planned
Jan 07, 2009
I’m finding myself in a funk. Not too surprising, with that whole “going-back-to-work” thing accompanied by the whole “getting-up-early” thing.
Yeah. I’m not loving that bit too much.
I have my alarm set to go off an hour earlier than its former time. This means that I spend approximately an hour repeatedly hitting the snooze button, and then rolling back over to slug-a-bed for another six minutes…at which time the alarm goes off again, and I have to hit snooze once more. (The alarm clock won’t keep going after about one hour’s worth of this routine. It may be a mere assemblage of plastic and solder; but it knows the value of futility.)
The mornings have been windy as hell, and rainy. I haven’t been able to summon up the intestinal fortitude to go out for my morning walks. Having early morning meetings may be part of the problem. I’d hate like hell to miss a meeting because I was out walking. Once the sun starts rising earlier, and the weather calms down a little bit, I should have an easier time going for my morning walk.
...so sometime around March, I may be able to get into this routine.
